William Birndorf Higher Hopes! Founder Bill had a vision of providing 1,000 families with Thanksgiving Dinners to be enjoyed in their own homes, with their own families to bring peace of mind to low income families that may otherwise not be able to celebrate with full Thanksgiving Meals. Bill has had over 30 years of sales and marketing experience as President and Founder of Apple Marketing Company selling consumer products to chain retailers.
Karen Sherbin Karen was instrumental in helping secure food products and volunteer networks for Higher Hopes! Karen is a medical social worker and currently serves as project coordinator for Project Healthy Community. PHC is a nonprofit organization committed to enriching the lives of underprivileged people. Her passion is to give back to those in need.
Carolyn Gray Carolyn was instrumental in identifying the Head Start and Great Start families in need that benefited from this year’s Higher Hopes! Thanksgiving Initiative. She is currently the Director of The Order of Fishermen Ministry Educational Services Program overseeing the Great Start School Readiness Program.
Dr. Melvyn Rubenfire As CEO and President of Project Healthy Community, Mel contributed the organization’s resources to help to make Higher Hopes! a huge success! Mel is a renowned Cardiologist in the University of Michigan Health System, as well as a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine.
Warren Crockett Warren has dedicated his life to aiding to his city by being greatly involved in community service. His relationships and network of people and organizations contributed to the success of Higher Hopes! Warren is Operation Field Coordinator for B & L Moving and Maintenance Service
David Lubin David is greatly involved in community enrichment to help people of all walks of life. He is involved with Wayne State University College of Fine, Performing, & Communication Arts, The New Horizons Rehabilitation Services, B’bai B’rith International, The Friendship Circle, and the National Association of Container Distributors. He is currently President of MJS Packaging and was instrumental in helping with supplies, funds, and logistical support for Higher Hopes!
Miranda Crammer Graciously Donated her time as a volunteer and reached out & secured corporate donations, along with keeping the Higher Hopes! Go Fund Me and Facebook sites current & up to date. Miranda has more than 8 years experience in sales, and is currently an outside sales representative at Apple Marketing Company
Sheila Nelson Because of Sheila’s efforts with Higher Hopes! she was granted the Ambassadorship Award for 2014 in the presence of all of the team members of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Detroit. The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Detroit graciously donated 1,000 2L bottles of Coke, Diet Coke, and Coke Zero.
Franklin Dohanyos FRANKLIN PUBLICITY, INC. is a three-time award winning PR firm celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Founded in Royal Oak by Franklin Dohanyos FRANKLIN PUBLICITY has helped businesses in a broad range of private and public industries gain valuable media exposure, including food purveyors, restaurants, caterers, hotels, retail/wholesale outlets, commercial development firms, builders, lawyers, doctors, construction, pharmaceuticals, design and building firms, automotive-related companies, universities and more.
Steve Friedman Steve has worked in the residential home building industry since his late teens. For the past 35 years, he has been a driving force in building residential homes, developing home sites, and managing commercial properties. He is currently the owner and President of Pinnacle Homes and is devoted to improving customer’s experiences to ensure that each home owner is excited about their Pinnacle Home. Steve’s been a leading contributor to Higher Hopes! and has helped raise significant funding for 2015 and 2016’s Program to provide food to Detroit City Head Start Families!
Tonia Franks Tonia M. Franks is currently working as Assistant Director with the Order of the Fisherman Ministry Head Start in the City of Detroit. Tonia has worked in the Head Start area for over 20 years in various capacities and is a UCLA/Johnson and Johnson Head Start Fellow who won their National Award of Excellence in 2008. Tonia is a native of Detroit, Michigan and is proud to be working to enhance the lives of ‘little people’ and their families enrolled in the Early Head Start/Head Start programs. “Working with Higher Hopes! is a blessing to me. This is not just a job for me, this is ‘kingdom building business.'”
